Red Cross holds its annual meeting
The Coastal South Carolina Chapter of the American Red Cross will hold its annual meeting and volunteer recognition banquet on Thursday at the Horry-Georgetown Technical College Conference Center, 600 Meyers Ave. in Myrtle Beach.
Members from the chapter, which serves Georgetown, Horry and Williamsburg counties, are invited to the gathering, which will begin with registration and a social at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m.
Volunteer presentations will follow the dinner, as will a brief annual meeting. The guest speaker will be Charlotte Lunsford Berry, who has been a major contributor to the National American Red Cross for 30 years. She was national chairwoman of volunteers in the 1980s, when she was responsible for supervising and planning activities for 1.8 million volunteers.

CCU plans marching band auditions
Auditions will be held for the 2010-11 Coastal Carolina University Spirit of the Chanticleer Marching Band drumline and front ensemble on Saturday and July 24. Students interested in auditioning may attend either date.
Registration will be held at 8 a.m. in the Coastal Band Hall, with auditions ending at 5 p.m. Auditions are casual and relaxed.
The band performs regularly at home and selected away football games, parades, festivals and high school marching band exhibitions.
