Pop quiz: Drifting pops up in pop culture

If something's a fad or a trend, you can usually find it crop up in various forms of pop culture, from music to movies to other types of entertainment. Drifting is no different, as it's featured in "The Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift" and in various video games.

Here's a bite-sized run down:

» "The D Film Series" - debuting in 2006 is a Japanese style anime series of films based on drifting.

» "The Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift" - released in 2006, the most well known drifting movie and still wildly popular.

» What's more pop culture than YouTube (www.youtube.com)? There you can find many drifting videos including ones basd on our very own series here in Myrtle Beach.

» "The Need for Speed" - a series of cross-platform racing games originally released in 1996. "Need for Speed: World," the latest installment, will feature massive online play and will be released later this year.

» "Gran Turismo" - a series made for the Sony PlayStation brand was originally released in 1997. The latest one, "Gran Turismo 5" will be released later this year.

» "Super Mario Kart" - Yes. you can drift in "Super Mario Kart" world.
