Despite the reduced number of motorcycles, the Grand Strand saw a number of motorcycle crashes Saturday.

Two crashes involving motorcycles occurred a block from each other on Myrtle Beach's Restaurant Row, according to authorities.

A motorcycle rear-ended a car around 4 p.m. on U.S. 17 near the intersection of Lake Arrowhead Road, said Lance Cpl. Sonny Collins with the S.C. Highway Patrol. The motorcycle was traveling too fast for traffic conditions and struck the stopped car, he said.

A second accident occurred at 5 p.m. on the southern side of the same intersection in front of the Giant Crab Seafood restaurant, Collins said. A car turned onto U.S. 17 and, failing to yield to traffic, collided with the motorcycle, he said.

Collins said he could not comment on any injuries resulting from the crashes.

Earlier, a motorcycle and another vehicle also collided at the intersection of U.S. 17 Business and Sixth Avenue South in Surfside Beach Saturday afternoon, according to public safety officials.

One person was injured in the collision and transported to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, Surfside Police Chief Andy Christenson said. The injuries did not look life threatening at the scene, he said.

The crashes follow on the heels of two others involving motorcycles that occurred Friday, Collins noted.
