Rabies clinics set for Horry, Georgetown

sjones@thesunnews.comApril 10, 2010

Low-cost rabies clinics are set for today and the next two Saturdays in Georgetown County and through April 30 in Horry County.

The S.C. Rabies Control Act requires that all dogs and cats have a current rabies vaccination. The S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control said that the minimum age to vaccinate puppies and kittens is three months for the majority of vaccines.

Vaccines will cost $3 each at the clinics planned for various locations, according to DHEC officials. Dogs must be on a leash and cats in a box or carrier.

The following is a list of the clinics scheduled for Georgetown County, and for Horry County through Wednesday.

A full list through the month for Horry County is available at www.dhec.gov. Click on "Rabies Vaccination Clinics" in the "In the news" column at the top right of the Web site and enter the name of the county for the complete list.
