International Paper in Georgetown is investigating an incident that happened Friday in which two contract employees became sick after they entered a vessel to work on it during a mill shutdown for an annual maintenance, said Kim Gill, International Paper's communications manager.

"A third contractor employee who was overseeing the work noticed they were having trouble and called the mill's emergency response team, who were able to safely remove the two men from the vessel," Gill said.

All three were taken to an area hospital for evaluation.

Five arrested on burglary charges

Five people were arrested for burglary after being caught inside a home, according to a news release from Lt. Neil Johnson with the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office.

Timothe Samuel Greene, 18, of Murrells Inlet; Joseph Michael Alba, 17, of Pawleys Island; Anthony Jujuan Grant, 17, of Pawleys Island; and two juveniles were arrested Monday and charged with second-degree burglary after they were captured inside a residence, Johnson said.

Greene, Alba and Grant were taken to the Georgetown County Detention Center. Greene and Grant were released Wednesday on a $5,000 cash/surety bond. Alba was released on a $5,570 cash bond. The two juveniles were released to their parents.

All five were arrested after deputies responded shortly after 6 p.m. Monday to 502 Congressional Lane in Pawleys Island for a suspicious vehicle in the driveway, Johnson said. The call came from a caretaker of the residence who originally arrived to repair a window from a previous burglary.

Police were called at 8 p.m. Thursday to the Ocean Reef Resort at 7100 N. Ocean Blvd. after two 14-year-old girls from Bloomington, Ind., reported a man exposed himself to them, police said.

The teens told police they were in the hot tub room when a man came up to the glass windows and rubbed himself against the glass after he got their attention, according to the report.

Police learned at the nearby Long Bay Resort a similar incident had been reported to management but was not reported to police, according to the report. Hotel security and police patrols were going to be increased in that area.

Residents asked to ignore census error

Carolina Shores residents should ignore that their census forms say they are for the town of Shallotte, deputy town clerk Lisa Anglin said this morning.

Anglin said she was told by the Census Bureau that the form's 20-digit bar code will ensure that the information gets to the right place for an accurate count. Residents should complete and mail the forms, she said.
