Is Korn channeling Sweet? Would that make 'em Sweet Korn? Anyhow, in what's being dubbed as Korn 's Ballroom Blitz, the nu metal mavens kick off their spring tour at the House of Blues on May 2, with tickets going on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. 2Cents is also on the bill. Tickets, undoubtedly more than 2 cents, will set you back $40 for general admission, $55 to sit your tushy on a stool in the loge section, and $60 to park it in one of those loge pews. Myrtle Beach ain't in the bike rally biz anymore, but that's not stopping biker-friendly Southern rock institution The Marshall Tucker Band from visiting North Myrtle Beach with a May 14 gig at House of Blues, with tickets going on sale at 11 a.m. Saturday. Myrtle Beach-based goth/synth/new wave revival act Something About Vampires and Sluts headlines an evening at The Basement on March 26 with Drew Jacobs Band and Shallow Palace in tow, and advance tickets ($5) are on sale via www.myspace.com/thebaseamentmyrtlebeach.
Days of the New ("Touch, Peel, and Stand," "Shelf In the Room") was always pretty much a one-man-show anyway, so the band's creative force Travis Meeks is touring solo these days, including a gig April 8 at Hard Rock Cafe in Myrtle Beach. Local act The Eason Duo will open the show. You won't need tickets for this one, but donations are strongly encouraged as the concert benefits Musicians On Call, a nonprofit that brings live music to folks confined to hospitals and other care facilities. Consider it a concert for the mouth, or a gastrointestinal symphony, as tickets are now on sale for the various events that fall under the umbrella of Coastal Uncorked Food and Wine Festival set for May16-23 at various locales along the Grand Strand.
