If you're looking for an excellent place to enjoy some happy hour drinks with co-workers or friends after work, check out the recently opened Bourbon Street Bar & Grill in Myrtle Beach. In a nutshell, you'll find locals, a party and high-end food.

The atmosphere is lively yet laid back, and it's almost like you're having a cocktail party at home, capturing the spirit of the Big Easy. With a fireplace and couches, it has a living room feel. Even the large bathrooms look like something you'd find in your home instead of a bar or restaurant.

There are several high-top tables in a room off of the main bar, or you can choose to sit in a number of bar stools at the mahogany bar. You can also relax on a couch or low stools by the fireplace, or stand with your friends next to convenient rails where you can set your drink. Plus, the owners have plenty of room to expand. Future additions could include a wine room, upstairs level and space next door.

The decor is outstanding, ranging from paintings to beautiful glass that was hand blown by an owner. There are also musical instruments displayed on the wall. The owners plan to have live entertainment, such as a guitar player, every night.

Typical of many new bars, money is on display behind the bar, but instead of dollar bills these are $20 bills. However, you won't need 20 bucks to enjoy a meal. The locale prides itself on having high-end food, yet everything on the menu is less than $9, including Fish & Chips, Chicken Sandwiches, Burgers and a Bourbon St. Po' Boy. You can also get appetizers such as Wasabi Tuna, Fish Bites, Fish Cakes, Sliders or Seafood Nachos.

Happy hour runs from 4-7 p.m. Monday-Friday. Specials include $2 domestic beers, $3.75 house wines and $2.75 house liquors. There are also daily food specials during happy hour, such as 50-cent oysters or wings or 35-cent peel-and-eat shrimp.

TIPS | If parking runs out in front of Bourbon Street, you can park on the side of the building or in the Ciao! Italian Restaurant parking lot next door.
