THE LOWDOWN | If you love rum, what better place to indulge than Rum Runnerz in Little River? We put on our pirate patch and hit up the new locale this week for happy hour. Bikers and golfers are also welcome.

Rum Runnerz is located where Shark's Tooth used to be, but the new owners, Tony Digennaro and Chelle Kerzel, remodeled the entire place. The bar is bright and colorful with coral walls and accents of blue, pink and green. Fish nets and pirate decorations go along with the nautical theme.

Inside, there are a handful of high-top tables where you can sit, as well as bar stools and low-top tables in the back. There's a pool table, Golden Tee and a projector where you can play Wii. Also, Rum Runnerz has live entertainment on weekends and karaoke on Wednesday nights.

Happy hour runs from 4-7 p.m. on weekdays. (The bar is closed on Mondays for now, until tourist season picks up) Drink specials include $1 12-oz. draft beers (Bud Light, Miller Lite and Yuengling), $1.50 Michelob Ultra and $3 house liquors. Various shot specials run throughout the week, and on Thursdays you can get a Rum Runner at Rum Runnerz for three bucks. You can also "Bite your Beer" with Captain Morgan's rum with lime liquor by pouring a shot of the rum in your beer. If you do that three times, you get a free T-shirt.

Food is also discounted during happy hour. Enjoy wings and fried pickle spears for $4 or steamed shrimp for $7. The regular menu includes chili fries, cheese fries or hot dogs for $2. .

TIPS | You won't need to break out the Febreeze after a visit to Rum Runnerz - the bar is non-smoking. (You can light-up at one of the several tables outdoors.) You can also park in the two gravel lots next to Rum Runnerz parking lot.

FIND IT | 4480 Mineola, Little River. Call 427-4459 or visit .
