Fibber's on the Water

No lie - Fibber's on the Water in Little River is a wonderful place to eat delicious food, sip on drinks and enjoy a beautiful view of the river. That's where we found ourselves this week for happy hour... which is all day everyday.

This Irish joint is newly renovated. It has a nice mahogany bar with convenient hooks underneath to hang your purse or coat. Choose to sit at low or high-top tables, or snag a comfortable stool at the bar. From almost anywhere you are, you'll be able to gaze out at the water... the entire back of the establishment is lined with windows.

If you prefer the outdoors, you can sit at the Tiki bar out front or on the waterfront back deck. Both have several heaters to keep you warm this time of year. This summer you may have a third outdoor option: There are plans for a rooftop deck.

Fibber's invites casual dress to its high-end atmosphere. Because of a meticulous owner, the establishment is very clean. Even the bathrooms, complete with beautiful tile on the floors, walls and counter, are spotless.

The locale refers to happy hour as "Happy Day" - because happy hour prices are in effect all day, everyday. Domestic drafts are $2, and depending on the day of the week, you can cash in on various drink specials, such as $4 house liquors on Tuesdays and Thursdays, $3 Margaritas on Fridays and $3 Guinness on Saturdays.On Sundays, Bloody Marys are five bucks...and you can add your own fixings.

Fibber's also has a handful of food specials every day, including the catch of the day, wraps and soups. (The She Crab soup in a bread bowl is to die for on a cool day.) The full menu includes lots of seafood and Irish favorites such as fish and chips, shepherds pie and Jameson-soaked barbeque ribs.

TIPS | There's no smoking indoors, but you can light-up in the outdoor areas.

You can park in the Sea Screamer parking lot, SunCruz parking lot or alongside the road. If you enjoy the Little River locale, and you're feeling up for a mini-road trip, check out Fibber's other location across the border in Sunset Beach, N.C.
