Broadway comes to Myrtle Beach's Palace
It may not be Broadway in New York City, but the "Broadway at the Palace" series, performed on stage at Palace Theatre at Broadway at the Beach, Myrtle Beach, may have audiences shouting "Bravo!"
Catch these popular musicals and comedies running through the end of the year in the Palace's King's Suite Showroom venue, located off the main auditorium lobby.
"Steel Magnolias" Through Feb. 14
Just as pretty-in-pink perfect as the classic 1989 film of the same name starring Dolly Parton, Sally Field, Julia Roberts, Daryl Hannah and more. Set in a Louisiana hair salon, "Steel Magnolias" expresses the essence of female friendship - through good times and bad.
"Forever Plaid" February 23-April 3
Beginning with the singing quartet, The Plaids, returning from the afterlife for a final shot at recording an album, "Forever Plaid" is based on the off-Broadway musical comedy about the guy group colliding with a bus filled with Catholic schoolgirls on their way to see the Beatles' American debut on "The Ed Sullivan Show." "I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change" April 20-May 9
Off-Broadway's longest-running musical, "I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change" delves into dating, romance, marriage, lovers, husbands, wives and in-laws.
"Nunsense" Sept. 14-Oct. 17
The five survivors of "Little Sisters of Hoboken," a missionary order, discovers their cook, Sister Julia, Child of God, accidentally killed the other 52 residents of the convent with her vichyssoise. Add to that, comedic scenes that include Mother Superior's vision to start a greeting card company to pay for the burials, dance routines and an audience quiz.
"Blithe Spirit" Oct. 26-Nov. 14
In true Halloween spirit, the comedic "Blithe Spirit" follows a successful novelist haunted by the ghost of his first wife. Although she seems to be his biggest fan, things may not be so happily- ever-after when the author's new wife finds out they're not alone anymore.
