THE LOWDOWN | If you're in the mood for sports, beer and delicious food, then Jimmagan's Sports Bar and Grill is the place to be. Known as "The Pub" by locals, the bar located at 60th Avenue North and Kings Highway in Myrtle Beach is the original Jimmagan's on the Grand Strand. That's where we hit this week for happy hour.

This sports bar is the home-away-from-home for many neighborhood locals. On any given day, at any given time, you can find members of the "family" bellying-up to the bar or sitting at one of the many high-top tables throughout the establishment. Similar to a "Cheers" vibe, it's a comfortable place where everyone knows your name...and at the same time, it's very welcoming to newcomers.

There are dozens of TVs so that any sports fanatic can catch their favorite team play. On game days, a highlighted game is played on several big screens and the sound comes through speakers throughout the bar. Afterwards, the music cranks up. Patrons play their favorite songs on Touch Tunes. And the music is played at a moderate level - low enough that you can still chat with your friends, but loud enough it can spark you to dance. You can also play Silver Strike, Megatouch or billiards - Jimmagan's has three pool tables.

The bartenders at Jimmagan's Pub are amazing. Whether you're a regular or a first-timer, they'll know your name, what you drink and something about you - they have a knack for chatting with patrons without skipping a beat serving drinks.

During happy hour, you can get a dozen wings for less than $8. Other happy hour specials include $1.50 select draft beers and $3.50 24-oz. tallboy cans (Miller Lite, Coors Light, Bud Light, and Budweiser). Happy hour is weekdays from 4-7p.m. daily.

TIPS | Parking is limited out front, but you can park on the side or behind Jimmagan's.

FIND IT | 6003 N. Kings Highway, Myrtle Beach. Call 497-5450.
