Denver Cromer has resigned his position as the head football coach at North Myrtle Beach, the school's athletic director Joe Quigley said in a release Tuesday.

Cromer's resignation is effective immediately. In five seasons as the Chiefs' coach, Cromer compiled a 24-32 record including a region championship in 2006. The Chiefs went 4-7 in 2009 and lost 47-27 to North Charleston in the first round of the Class AAA playoffs.

"Denver has done a trmendous job in coaching the Chiefs and he will be missed,'' Quigley said in the release. ''At this time, coach Cromer will continue to teach math at North Myrtle Beach High School." Find the full story in Wednesday's editions of The Sun News.
