The game | This is a game of high-powered offenses. The visiting Cougars have outscored opponents 496-225 this season while Myrtle Beach has outscored its foes 529-192. North Charleston's lone loss came to AA power Timberland. The teams' common opponents are Lake Marion (North Charleston won 40-6; Myrtle Beach won 56-12) and North Myrtle Beach (North Charleston won 47-27; Myrtle Beach won 48-7). The Cougars have been slow starters in the playoffs so far, but have exploded in the second half for blowout wins over North Myrtle Beach and Camden. North Charleston quarterback Denzel Myers accounted for 424 yards of offense and seven touchdowns last week against Camden. The Seahawks will have to contain Myers both on the ground and through the air.

The game | Douglas Byrd, the 12^th seed out of Fayetteville, hosted last week's first-round game and knocked off fifth-seed Westover, a team the Eagles lost to during the regular season. Douglas Byrd lost in the Class 4A state championship game last season, but moved down in class with the realignment this season. The Eagles returned 15 starters from last season's squad. Both offenses in this one run the ball almost exclusively. The Eagles average 298.4 yards on the ground per game and are led by senior running back Rasheem Bronson (1,346 rushing yard and 13 TDs on 161 carries) and junior quarterback/running back Junior Williams (1,007 and 10 TDs rushing). The Eagles throw for only 56.5 yards per game. West Brunswick rushes for 230 yards per game and has thrown for just 32.7 yards per game. The Trojans defense recorded its third shutout of the season in last week's 34-0 win over Chapel Hill and linebacker Alfy Hill and Co. could be the difference in this one.
