Two people have filed applications to run for the vacant seat on the Atlantic Beach Town Council, as the filing period continues for more than another week, officials said.

Josephine Isom, a longtime Horry County courthouse employee who fell only a few votes short of a council seat in 2007, filed for the seat this week.

Kantrese Wright, a town resident and 27-year-old Horry-Georgetown Technical College student, said she is running in hopes of getting the town "back on track."
