The hole nicknamed "Waterloo" is perhaps the most famous hole on the Grand Strand and received the most votes on the Dream 18.

It wraps around large Lake Singleton to its right.

Players have to keep the drive left of the water, leaving a fairway wood or long iron to set up the third shot.

The closer you want to get to the green on the second shot, the more water you have to take on. Reaching the green in two requires a Herculean effort and has seldom been done.

The hole measures 545 yards from the blue tee, 520 from the white and 510 from the red. The approach shot to the green is slightly uphill, and the green has a back-left plateau, a steep downslope to its front right portion, and bunkers front right and back left.

Sports Illustrated named the hole one of The Best 18 Holes in America, Golf Digest has rated it as the fourth-best par-5 in America and among its best 18 holes in the country, and Golf Magazine has placed it on its list of the best 100 holes in America.

quotes
"Waterloo is simplistic in design yet carries a big bite. Three very good shots are required to reach a devilishly sloping par-5 green complex."
Jim Knaffle
"Long recognized as one of the classic risk-reward holes in South Carolina. It has a difficult green with two tiers requiring as short a third shot as possible. A player must choose how much of the dogleg to cut off."
Gary Schaal
