Par-3 closing holes are rare, but the Surf Golf and Beach Club's 18th designed by George Cobb has proven itself to be worthy of the designation. The tee shot is slightly downhill to a green that rises up from a pond fronting it, with the club's large clubhouse as the backdrop. The large green gradually slopes from back to front, becoming more steep near the front, and is protected by bunkers front-left and front-right. A tree beyond the water hazard to the right of the green hangs over a portion of the front-right bunker and can deflect pushed or sliced shots from right-handed players. The hole measures 177 from the white tee, 153 from the gold and 116 from the red. |

quotes "A long, difficult par-3 over a pond with a picturesque clubhouse in the background. There is usually some ocean breeze that complicates club selection. A great tournament finishing hole."
Gary Schaal
"The best long par-3 on the beach and is often affected by the wind. It has a great setting with the Surf clubhouse and large oaks."
Richard Lee
