Marsh on the left is the star of this hole. The layout bends to the left around the marsh, and the left side falls into a thin waste bunker that lines the marsh the entire length of the hole. Tee shots to the left shorten the hole but flirt with the trouble. Drives can't be hit to the left of a tree that resides on the far left side of the fairway around the landing area, which is above the green. A relatively thick tree line, fairway bunkers, and a few out of bounds stakes away drives that bail out too far right. The fairway slopes below the green beyond the landing area. From the right side, most player will have a mid- to long-iron approach that is slightly downhill. A two-tiered green that predominantly slopes from back right to front left has seven bunkers that protect all sides of it except the back left. The left side slopes down to the marsh. It is the top handicap hole on a difficult course despite its modest length, which includes 391 yards from the gold tee, 366 from the silver, 304 from the senior gold and 259 from the red. |

quotes "Has all the characteristics of a great hole. The scenery is magnificent with a sweeping view of the salt marsh and Cherry Grove. A long accurate tee shot is required to have a mid-iron approach into a two-tiered elevated green. If the wind is blowing off the ocean, a birdie is nearly impossible. "
Don Barnes
"The 'signature' hole on a course with several signature holes. The hole has a Pebble Beach feel with the fairway sitting high above Cherry Grove Inlet. Requires a good drive and a solid second shot to a beautifully, strategically trapped green. Elevation change complicates the approach. "
