This hole is the start of "Alligator Alley" at The Dunes Club, with Singleton Swash on the right.

The dogleg right requires a drive to a fairway on an upslope that is squeezed on the right by trees and marsh, and on the left by timber and a bunker at the crest of the incline.

The back side of the fairway is downhill. A solid drive is necessary to see a peninsula green that shoots right into the marsh with a bunker running along the marsh on the right and another bunker left.

The hole measures 430 yards from the back tee, 385 from the blue, 370 from the white and 300 from the red. A back tee to the right creates a much sharper dogleg and requires a long drive to see around the corner.

The hole was straightforward before the green was moved significantly to the right in the early 1990s.

quotes
"Come away with a 5 here and you feel like it's a par. It's a great hole from the start and gets better with a difficult approach to a small green. Even a wedge approach is a challenge. Swash guards the right side and back of the green which frames this hole and strikes fear into even the best players."
Nick Nicholas
"A classic dogleg par-4 that demands an accurate first shot, then another accurate second shot with the marsh down the right side. Very scenic."
Jeff Gehm
