Top 10 | The most intriguing story lines of 2008

1. When does it come? | In his 26th year at Conway, Chuck Jordan needs one win to tie Myrtle Beach legend Doug Shaw as the winningest coach in Horry County history. He'll elikely break the record early this season, but when will it come?
2. Talented encore?| In array of Division I talents patrolled the Grand Strand last season, marking perhaps the greatest exodus of senior talent in the area's history. Will their absence mean the quality of football suffers and can new faces fill their void?
3. Return to glory? | Carvers Bay and South Columbus (N.C.) combined for 26 wins last year. But they both lost state championship games and plenty to graduation. Is there enough in reserve for similar feats in 2008?
4. Clear the hurdle? | Myrtle Beach has won 80 percent of its games the last three seasons, but each ended with a loss in the Lower State semifinals. For this program to step into the elite category, it needs to at least punch a ticket to the state semifinals.
5. Following the beef? | Despite vital losses at several skill positions, Conway returns four starters on its offensive line. Not surprisingly, the Tigers will run a little more and throw a little less. Assuming they settle on a tailback, the Tigers could be dangerous.
6. New tune? | Coach Tyronne Davis, formerly the defensive coordinator at Carvers Bay, takes over at Georgetown, a program that consistently underachieves. Will Davis manage to right a program that has plenty of potential?
7. QB blues | Numerous senior quarterbacks were lost to graduation after the 2007 season, leaving unsettled battles at several schools. Some untested replacements will be counted on to play well and could ultimately decide the fates of their teams this fall.
8. Problems in the past? | North Myrtle Beach had plenty of talent but the bad attitudes were just as prevalent in 2007. The team struggled with chemistry and missed the playoffs. With many of the problem players gone, the Chiefs believe they can rebound in 2008.
9. Both sides? | Carvers Bay's Kwame Geathers dominated at defensive tackle last year and will also play offensive tackle this season. With his size _ 6-foot-6, 330 pounds _ he should open massive holes for the Bears' patented running attack.
10. Over their heads? | Carolina Forest makes the move to Class AAAA this season. A program that has consistently had to scrap for wins in Class AAA, the Panthers and coach Drew Hummel are slowly starting to build momentum. Will it translate into wins?
