BOLIVIA, N.C. | A 36-year-old Ocean Isle Beach, N.C., man was charged today with one felony count each of trafficking marijuana and possession with the intent to sell or deliver marijuana after a tip from a Texas drug task force alerted Brunswick County sheriff's officials.

Jose Enrique Hernandez, of the 7100 block of Dale Avenue, was arrested Monday and charged Tuesday with both felony counts along with the misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

On Monday, the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office received information from a High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force agent in Texas that a shipment of marijuana was enroute to Ocean Isle Beach, according to a press release issued by the sheriff's office this morning. The Brunswick County Sheriff's Office Drug Enforcement Unit along with New Hanover County Sheriff's Office Vice and Narcotics Unit intercepted the package from a delivery service in Wilmington, N.C., according to the release.

Agents determined that the package contained more than 33 pounds of marijuana and subsequently conducted a controlled delivery of the package to a residence in the 1800 block of West Long Acres Drive. An undercover agent delivered the package to Hernandez, according to police, and he was then arrested. He is being held in the Brunswick County jail on $110,500 secured bond.
